Microform Specifications

Microfiche is silver halide fiche and conforms to standards for archival permanence established by the ANSI and the AIIM.

Fiche generally are 98-frame format with a 24:1 reduction ratio and may be in either positive or negative polarity.

Microfilm is silver halide 35mm film that conforms to standards for archival permanence established by the ANSI and the AIIM. Microfilm reels typically average 1,000 frames per reel. The standard reduction ratio is 14:1. Each reel is shipped in an acid- and lint-free archival box.
